Although I’ve been active on social media for a few months — primarily on Instagram, Threads, and Facebook under the handle @paul.macpherson.photography — this website only soft-launched last week. With that milestone, I also aligned my Bluesky handle with the same branding.
Over the coming weeks, I plan to create four to six YouTube videos that will remain unlisted until January 1, 2026. Each video will be embedded in its corresponding blog post here, but they won’t be discoverable or recommended by the YouTube algorithm until the official launch.
There are two reasons behind this approach:
- Workflow refinement: I want to work out any production or publishing issues before introducing my channel to a broader audience.
- Momentum at launch: Having several videos ready to go should give new viewers more to explore, ideally increasing early engagement and subscriber growth.
Until the new year, I’m considering the paul.macpherson.photography social media presence to be in a soft-launch phase. Once I fully launch, my YouTube videos will become publicly discoverable, and I’ll begin promoting them across all my social media platforms.
Here’s what my current social footprint looks like:
- Bluesky: 1,462 followers
- Facebook: 247 friends
- Instagram: 77 followers
- Threads: 58 followers
- YouTube: 14 subscribers
I also have a LinkedIn account, branded separately, with 1,269 connections and 1,258 followers.
This is the foundation I’ll be building on — and I’m looking forward to seeing how things evolve between now and January 1st.
